Coming into Force of the Social Security Act

The Social Security Act was enacted in 1954 and has been implemented in Yangon and its suburbs since 1st January 1956.
Coverage was gradually extended to other areas when the
Social Security Scheme has been successful.

Main Tasks
The main tasks of the Social Security Board are;

  1. To make coverage under 1954 Social Security Act
  2. To register covered establishment and workers and
    collect contributions from them
  3. To provide cash benefit and other benefits
  4. To provide health care for insured workers and
    promote their health
  5. To make education talks on health and Social Security Scheme for insured workers.
