Coverage

The Social Security Scheme has been implemented in 110 townships in 13 States and Divisions except Chin State. There are (36336) establishments and (503794) insured workers covered by the Act in April 2010.

The following types of establishment are covered under the Social Security Act;

  1. Industrial establishment, shops, trading establishments
    and public entertainment establishments in
    which at least five workers are employed;
  2. Transportation works, ports, mines, oil fields in public
    sector and ministry of Labour;
  3. Any other establishments as may be notified by the
    competent authority from time to time.
